Project description

Open Art Register is an open, non-commercial register for structured documentation of artistic practice. Information is provided through voluntary self-description; the register does not decide who is an artist. Its aim is a durable infrastructure for traceable visibility and research.

The idea grew out of the artist's own practice. Information about works, exhibitions and artistic development is often scattered across multiple platforms. Context gets lost and long-term visibility becomes harder. Open Art Register addresses this structural problem directly.

Public visibility, search and statistical use remain separate choices. Private and security-relevant data are kept apart from those public layers; published statistics are presented in aggregated form.

To make the project and its scope easier to understand, a public GitHub evidence repository (opens in a new tab) was created. It also contains the statistics example (opens in a new tab), which uses synthetic data to provide an overview of the intended statistical evaluation.
